A Moment of Alignment at Sherman Lyceum 2025
During the May 2025 Lyceum Homecoming, Sherman College of Chiropractic conferred an honorary Doctor of Chiropractic degree upon world-renowned entrepreneur, speaker, and philanthropist David Meltzer. The honor, awarded during a packed plenary session, recognized Meltzer’s extraordinary alignment with the principles of chiropractic—particularly Sherman College’s emphasis on service, connection, and innate potential.
“David’s mission to empower over a billion people to live abundant, purpose-filled lives resonates deeply with chiropractic philosophy,” said Sherman President Dr. Jack Bourla as he presented the diploma. “At Sherman, we talk about connecting man the physical to man the spiritual—David has dedicated his life to that kind of alignment.”
From Mastermind to Mentorship: Meltzer’s Journey into Chiropractic
Although not a chiropractor by profession, Meltzer’s influence within the chiropractic community has grown exponentially in recent years, especially through his close collaborations with Drs. Shawn Dill and Lacy Book of the Black Diamond Club. Dr. Dill who served as Sherman’s Chair of the Board of Trustees introduced Bourla to Meltzer and the rest became history.
In an interview in 2022 Meltzer explained "I started working with Shawn Dill about two and a half years ago and I guess my philosophies and disciplines are completely aligned with the basis of chiropractic work. Even though I hadn’t read the Green Books, people assumed I had, just from the way I talk about mindset, service, and alignment".
This natural resonance has made Meltzer a compelling presence at Sherman College, where he served as a plenary speaker during Lyceum 2023 and returned in 2025 not just to speak—but to be honored for his contributions.
Chiropractic and Consciousness: A Shared Philosophy
Meltzer’s core mission is to “empower over a billion people to be happy by making a lot of money, helping a lot of people, and having a lot of fun.” He believes that joy and service are inseparable—a belief that mirrors the foundational chiropractic principle of removing interference so that life can flow freely.
"I talk about the alignment of mind, body, and soul," Meltzer said. "And nobody better to talk to than chiropractors about that alignment"
Chiropractors as Healers and Leaders
Meltzer is quick to praise chiropractors as “beautiful souls” who dedicate their lives to service—but he also challenges them to overcome limiting beliefs about money, growth, and business.
“Most chiropractors help a lot of people—they’re not so great at making money,” he said with characteristic candor. “But when you ask them to build a brand or receive more in exchange for their value, they feel shame. They don’t realize we don’t live in a zero-sum world—we live in a value-add world”.
He calls on chiropractors to embrace abundance thinking and develop scalable business models.
“The ugly side is teaching them to scale… They have big opportunities and little capabilities because they don’t have time to train people or find the right people”
The Future of Healthcare: Ease Over Dis-Ease
Looking forward, Meltzer sees chiropractors playing a central role in the transformation of healthcare—away from reactive, expensive systems and toward preventive, empowering models.
“There’s either ease or dis-ease,” he said. “Alignment, mindset, heart set—these are at the core of chiropractic. And we’re going to find that healers like chiropractors are going to be at the forefront of the evolution of healthcare because it’s more effective, less expensive, and more preventative”
Bourla echoed this vision in his remarks at Lyceum stating “As we step into a new era of health, leaders like David help amplify what chiropractic has been saying for over a century—that true health comes from within, and our job is to remove the interference.”
From Gratitude to Greatness
David Meltzer’s honorary doctorate at Sherman College is more than symbolic—it reflects a growing convergence between thought leadership, service-based entrepreneurship, and chiropractic philosophy. Through his appearances, mentorship, and ongoing support, Meltzer continues to uplift a profession rooted in the principle that every human being is worthy, whole, and capable of transformation.
Or as he told listeners during an interview:
“Remember the Mantra—‘I already am happy, healthy, wealthy, and worthy.’ The question is, what are you doing to interfere with that?”
