The BJ Palmer Service Award is presented to individuals who embody the spirit and integrity of chiropractic’s philosophical roots. Dr. Rufolo-Dreher’s career has been defined by a passionate defense of those roots, reflected in her leadership within state and national chiropractic organizations, her educational initiatives, and her unrelenting service to the profession. A National Leader in Risk Management and Chiropractic Ethics
Since 2022, Dr. Rufolo-Dreher has served as a Risk Management Consultant with the ChiroFutures Malpractice Insurance Program, where she plays an integral role in shaping the risk education of chiropractors across the country. Her expertise includes:
Developing and teaching national courses in Risk Management, Ethics, and Medical Errors
Consulting on malpractice and incident cases
Serving as an expert witness in cases involving clinical, ethical, and medicolegal issues
Helping chiropractors avoid litigation and audits through education and best practices
Her wealth of experience—from private practice to the courtroom to national lecture halls—gives her a uniquely broad and insightful view of the chiropractic landscape. She continues to protect chiropractors by ensuring they practice ethically, effectively, and with full awareness of their responsibilities.

A Career Devoted to Service
Dr. Rufolo-Dreher’s contributions to chiropractic span over 30 years. From founding her own clinic in Schuylkill Haven, Pennsylvania, to teaching at Pennsylvania College of Chiropractic and reviewing for the National Boards through Irene Gold Associates, she has shaped generations of chiropractors. She has also served on numerous leadership boards and professional organizations, including:
President and Legislative Chair of the Pennsylvania Chiropractic Association
President of the Congress of Chiropractic State Associations
Member of the Medicare Carrier Advisory Committee
Liaison to major insurance networks
